Sponsoring
Shelters along the PCT Route
Several animal shelters located
close to the Pacific Crest Trail have graciously agreed to help Banner
and me with resupplies of food and
equipment during our 6 month hike. In return for this critical
logistical support, we will be sending these Sponsoring
Shelters significant donations at the completion of our
hike. How much we are able to send will depend on how many people
choose to donate to the PCT
for Pets Sponsoring Shelters option (see Make a Donation). We also hope
that our Sponsoring Shelters will be
able to use our story and our adventure, as well
as our attendance at fund-raising events that they may want to plan, in
order to raise
even more awareness and donations to help them in their daily mission
to care for the
animals in their charge.
This
is the animal shelter in Plattsburgh, NY, where I
adopted Banner. Being located in New York, they obviously cannot
help us with resupplies on the PCT, but I would like to be able to send
them a sizeable surprise donation at the completion of our hike.
CHEKIA
DOG RESCUE -- Ridgecrest, CA
Chekia Dog Rescue will
be assisting us with a resupply at
Walker Pass (Highway 178) at the end of Segment 10. This is a
critical resupply because here we will be making the transition to
skis for the SIerra Nevada section of the PCT, and we will be meeting
my friend, Matt Blakeley-Smith, who will travel with us through the
Sierra from Walker Pass to Ebbetts Pass...one month and over
350 miles of skiing!
Inyo County Animal Resources
& Education (ICARE)
Bishop, CA
ICARE will be helping us with a critical resupply in Bishop at the end
of
our longest segment of the PCT: 10 days and over 120 miles of skiing
from Kennedy Meadows to South Lake (Segment 12).
This page will continue to add more Sponsoring Shelters with
contact information and links to those shelters that have web sites.
